Lolly’s Christmas nails

photo-4My bid to spread Christmas cheer has begun! I was attempting to con my friend into loving Christmas like I do. I got as far as doing her nails, we didn’t quite get to the point where I revealed by extremely amazing Christmas playlist with 45 of the most incredible holiday themed songs of all time. I think we might have to ease into that…

I decided a bit of mix ‘n’ match Christmassy-goodness was in order, and I feel like it might’ve worked a little bit. Perhaps she’ll write a blog post about how I am enforcing the joys of Christmas on her? Let’s all watch out for that shall we? You can read about her hilarious escapades here: http://lollyjones.blogspot.co.uk I promise you that you will laugh and laugh until your sides hurt.

Ok people, T-minus 3 days until I endeavor on my Christmas jumper themed nails! I already have so many ideas for designs floating around in my head I’m starting to feel a bit overwhelmed, but I have a good feeling about it. See you all on Thursday! xx

love me some christmas nails

xmasbaublesoft

Christmas spirit is in the air. I am finally starting to feel like it’s the holiday season, as work draws to a close, the final Christmas presents are purchased and wrapped, and my body starts to sob with exhaustion, begging me to stop making plans to catch up with everyone before the end of the year. Ah, the holidays. I love it. So many Christmas parties and social gatherings, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. Also, presents.

For all those parties and gatherings, it is imperative to have Christmas nails. This year I am planning on having 2 different designs over the course of the weeks leading up to the big day. I’d rather have a couple more but knowing what little free time is available I decided not to set the bar too high.

I did these last night after work, just in time for work party #1 this evening. Christmas baubles! This is my “let’s keep it simple it’s already half 10 and I don’t want to be up until 1am” nails. Side note, I WAS up until 1am, which is the reason I am currently drinking my 4th cup of coffee this morning.

So, my “simple” design didn’t really stay that simple, but I got some great brushes on ebay that I wanted to try out, they are super fine and they made the small details on my Christmas bauble design really easy to do.

I am gearing up to do a very overly complicated and intricate Christmas jumper design next week for work party #2 and my big Christmas trip to Ireland, so stay tuned for that!

the all seeing eye meets my nails

photo-1Hump day nails! Man I really hate that term. Hump day. Especially when I have to work. It clearly amplifies how much fun I’m not having while I am in the office…working hard at…umm…blogging.

My nails are super short right now in the hopes that I won’t destroy them before the ever-important Christmas nails. This week’s design is a bit of mix and match, black and studs style. With a couple of all seeing eyes thrown in there. Those are inspired by my man, he loves the all seeing eye in the pyramid. After looking online for Christmas presents for him last night I couldn’t get it out of my head so I decided my digits should have some.

This is the first time I’ve used studs and they haven’t come off – several layers of top coat is the key!

I am gearing up to do Christmas nails for my trip to Ireland, and I must admit I’m seeing a lot of really great examples online, but the majority use stamping tools. And you know me, folks, that’s not my style. All freehand baby. I think I’m going to have to set aside at least 12 hours to do these nails, and given that it is party season that will be incredibly difficult.

Bring on the party season xx

jewel designs for autumn

I’m very lucky to work with such lovely girls who are so willing to let me do their nails for them. P’s nails are the longest of anyone I’ve met and they are so great to paint. I did a bit of a fabergé egg design for her, and she was so pleased that I’ve been informed that I’m able to do her nails whenever I want. How nice is that?

I love the simplicity of this design, because it doesn’t really look very simple but it was really quick and easy to do. You really can’t go wrong with metallics and jewel tones. Perfect for the Autumn weather and the dark colours we find ourselves wearing as the temperature drops.

paint nails like an Egyptian

For the next week and a half my boyfriend is in Egypt for work, and during one of our conversations where I was attempting not to sulk about it (not very convincingly, I’m sure), he brought up the idea of doing some Egyptian themed nails while he was away. Brilliant idea. A) gave me something relaxing and time consuming to do on Tuesday night while watching The Great British Bake Off, B) allowed me to remove my chipped birthday nails that I had been consistently picking at all day Monday that was driving me a bit batty, and C) looks awesome. Winning all round.
Egyptian images are right up my alley in the style department. Great colours, consistent use of metallics, simple yet effective designs. I don’t suppose I would’ve thought of it myself if he wasn’t going to Egypt, and it’s something totally different that I haven’t seen before on the other nail blogs I follow.

Tune in next week for some…wait for it…nautical nails! I am going to a nautical themed party on Saturday which means I can FINALLY sort myself out with some killer sailor-lady-themed nails. Now I just need an outfit. Can I wear leopard print to a nautical themed party…?

Life just keeps getting better and better. 28 is definitely working for me.

the nails of a not-27-for-long-year-old

Guys, I’m sorry to disappoint you. But I just couldn’t muster the time or strength to do anything difficult with my nails for my birthday. I wanted something bright and fun to go with my black and white outfit of choice, but I am so tired I could only manage to revisit the old fingerprint stamp design. I do love it, it’s easy, and I think it looks pretty good. With some killer lipstick tomorrow night I think it will look pretty bangin’.

This isn’t even going to be a long entry, because I am tucked up ready to call it a day. I encourage you all to try this design. It’s super fun. And don’t forget to top it off with that Seche Vite top coat!

Peace. Nighty night x

studded fingers

Nails are prepped for the week. They are very bold compared to what I’ve had on my nails all week, which has been my new Barry M lilac colour…very sweet and girly. This design is fun though, I am quite keen on the stud effect (no surprise there).

This took forever for me to decide on though, I did my nails 4 times before I stuck with this. So I am putting the call out again, if you have any ideas for me, please hit up my inspiration page and help me be more decisive the next time I do my nails!

Have a brilliant week x

metallic leopard love

There are few things more comforting than leopard print nails. Nothing better. Especially when they are silver and gold leopard print. Are you bored of my leopard print nails yet? Well if you are, you best get used to it because as a self-confessed leopard print addict, this design is here to stay.

This time was a touch different though, note the gradient effect in the size of the spots…just for some fun.

Maybe I do tend to lean toward leopard print a lot, so consider this a call out to you guys to hit up my inspiration page and tell me what you might like me to do next!

Stay tuned, I’ll try and update with another post soon, but with this busy London life I can’t make any promises, I’ll just try my best.

Happy weekend everyone!

complex one week, simple the next

Simple Wednesday nails. I am currently on the hunt for a fancy job so I can’t be as flamboyant as I’d like to be. Not everyone is like the lovely followers of my blog, some don’t take too kindly to multi-coloured, floral, glittery or excessively detailed nails. So due to this mildly disappointing fact I have kept it simple, with a new metallic silver as the base and then some random dotted tri-colour patterns.

Plus everyone likes low-maintenance don’t they? These were so quick to do, which, after last week’s entry, was very welcome.

And what am I holding, you ask? My fur vest. Because, quite simply, I am freezing. You’ve got to love a London summer!

the time has come to take my leopard nails aboard a plane

I am tired. I am so tired. I stared at my nail polish for 3 hours. 3 whole hours before I decided what to do.

Then it was decided that due to my lack of inspiration and my utter exhaustion due to the endless packing for my move to the UK, leopard nails were the answer. So this happened. And I think they are very fitting for my arrival in London tomorrow morning!

I’m off to the airport now…wish me luck. See you on the other side.
