the long awaited spring post

neon

Hi all. Have I really not posted since February? Well just lock me up for being the slackest blogger in the world. Sorry everyone.

Truthfully, I’ve barely done more to my nails than whack on a single colour in weeks. Otherwise I would’ve shared it with you, I promise. I have done leopard print a few times but I know you’d probably just roll your eyes at me so I decided to spare you.

But, spring is officially here, and so are my spring nails. A little neon 90′s for the spring, that’s what we all need isn’t it? They make me want to go dancing.

Happy spring everyone! xx

leopard print for the new year

photo

Happy New Year fellow nail-enthusiasts (and those of you who view my blog purely out of obligation).

What a year 2012 was. Big changes in my life, namely packing up my entire life for the 2nd year in a row and moving across the pond to London. I can say, without a shred of doubt, it was the best thing I’ve ever done. And I’ve done some pretty good things.

2013 is shaping up to be an amazing year. And what better way to start the year than with some leopard print nails. After nursing a NYE hangover and post-holiday-in-Ireland exhaustion – not to mention getting-back -to-reality January blues – I didn’t feel like spending more than 30 mins on my nails, but as always with leopard print designs I am tremendously happy with them, and with the little addition to the design - the love heart – there’s a lot of love around at the moment and I feel like this could be the theme for the year.

I hope your New Years resolutions include saying no to chipped nail polish, and making sure you put aside a bit of time for yourself to treat your nails every once in a while.

Big design being planned for next week, stay tuned!

xx

p.s. And no, I didn’t do any NYE nails, I ran out of time!

Merry (almost) Christmas!

photo4Merry (almost) Christmas! This will be my last post before New Years.

I have officially been defeated by Christmas jumpers. I wanted to buy one for the first time this year and was totally overwhelmed by the selection and not being able to find the kind I wanted, and then my grand plans for Christmas jumper nails were crushed when, after an intensely stressful day of packing and finalising things for the year, my inspiration was lost and I just couldn’t get them how I wanted them. But I LOVE my Christmas lights. I’m disappointed that the photo doesn’t show how glittery they are – this is one of the only times of year I like to have glittery nails – but trust me, they are sparkle-central.

I’m all ready for my work Christmas lunch today with my nails done and my green dress on, so finally feeling a bit Christmassy. It’s been a busy year and I am really looking forward to taking these nails to Ireland for the first time tomorrow morning!

Have a great Christmas everyone and I’ll see you before New Years for some party nails to ring in 2013!

xx

Lolly’s Christmas nails

photo-4My bid to spread Christmas cheer has begun! I was attempting to con my friend into loving Christmas like I do. I got as far as doing her nails, we didn’t quite get to the point where I revealed by extremely amazing Christmas playlist with 45 of the most incredible holiday themed songs of all time. I think we might have to ease into that…

I decided a bit of mix ‘n’ match Christmassy-goodness was in order, and I feel like it might’ve worked a little bit. Perhaps she’ll write a blog post about how I am enforcing the joys of Christmas on her? Let’s all watch out for that shall we? You can read about her hilarious escapades here: http://lollyjones.blogspot.co.uk I promise you that you will laugh and laugh until your sides hurt.

Ok people, T-minus 3 days until I endeavor on my Christmas jumper themed nails! I already have so many ideas for designs floating around in my head I’m starting to feel a bit overwhelmed, but I have a good feeling about it. See you all on Thursday! xx

the all seeing eye meets my nails

photo-1Hump day nails! Man I really hate that term. Hump day. Especially when I have to work. It clearly amplifies how much fun I’m not having while I am in the office…working hard at…umm…blogging.

My nails are super short right now in the hopes that I won’t destroy them before the ever-important Christmas nails. This week’s design is a bit of mix and match, black and studs style. With a couple of all seeing eyes thrown in there. Those are inspired by my man, he loves the all seeing eye in the pyramid. After looking online for Christmas presents for him last night I couldn’t get it out of my head so I decided my digits should have some.

This is the first time I’ve used studs and they haven’t come off – several layers of top coat is the key!

I am gearing up to do Christmas nails for my trip to Ireland, and I must admit I’m seeing a lot of really great examples online, but the majority use stamping tools. And you know me, folks, that’s not my style. All freehand baby. I think I’m going to have to set aside at least 12 hours to do these nails, and given that it is party season that will be incredibly difficult.

Bring on the party season xx

ahoy matey!

Ahoy matey’s!

Happy Friday to you all. I, for one, am very happy it’s Friday. After working for 12 days straight, including 2 late nights at the office, my brain is officially mush, I am completely useless when it comes to doing anything remotely important, and I am ready for some weekend fun. My And what better way to kick off the weekend than with some nautical nails.

I’ve been waiting for the right time to tackle this design, and thankfully my lovely friends have planned a nautical themed party for tomorrow night. So, being the planner that I am, and knowing full well I had committed to doing my friend’s nails tonight over salad, tea and a movie, I stayed up until well past my bedtime last night to get these done. The job was made much easier with my new brushes from MASH Nails - they are just brilliant to use, go buy them immediately! There is a really tiny one that made outlining the rope and other nautical items so easy. I can’t recommend these products enough.

I’m really happy with how these turned out, and I can’t wait to finally wear my costume that matches. I do love a themed party because I love the opportunity for a dress up – these nails are just the icing on the cake.

Have a great weekend.

the monday blues, made better

I don’t usually detest Monday’s, but today has been totally against me. A) Lashing rain on the way to work = wet feet. B) Broke my tooth. Terribly upsetting. I hate the dentist. C) Did I mention my tooth? D) I was stupid enough to go to Oxford St after work for a bit of retail therapy…but instead of helping, it sent me into a hate rage blackout.

However, some good things came out of today. I found cute and colourful necklace at Primark for 8 pounds. Boom. And, most importantly, my package finally arrived from MASH Nails. I am pretty excited about this. All those lovely new nail art brushes and dotting tools! All in time for my nautical nails that I’ll be doing for the party this weekend.  Also, Dirty Dancing is on TV right now…that’s a Monday win if I ever saw one.

I highly recommend MASH Nails if you’re looking for some new nail art tools or bits and pieces like rhinestones, stamping tools or nail wraps. They’re very well priced and the postage is reasonable too. And no, they’re not paying me to say that, I just want to pass on a good tip. The nail art community is all about sharing.

Go forth, purchase items, and perfect your craft.

See you later in the week for some nautical nail action created by my new toys.
