leopard print for the new year

photo

Happy New Year fellow nail-enthusiasts (and those of you who view my blog purely out of obligation).

What a year 2012 was. Big changes in my life, namely packing up my entire life for the 2nd year in a row and moving across the pond to London. I can say, without a shred of doubt, it was the best thing I’ve ever done. And I’ve done some pretty good things.

2013 is shaping up to be an amazing year. And what better way to start the year than with some leopard print nails. After nursing a NYE hangover and post-holiday-in-Ireland exhaustion – not to mention getting-back -to-reality January blues – I didn’t feel like spending more than 30 mins on my nails, but as always with leopard print designs I am tremendously happy with them, and with the little addition to the design - the love heart – there’s a lot of love around at the moment and I feel like this could be the theme for the year.

I hope your New Years resolutions include saying no to chipped nail polish, and making sure you put aside a bit of time for yourself to treat your nails every once in a while.

Big design being planned for next week, stay tuned!

xx

p.s. And no, I didn’t do any NYE nails, I ran out of time!

jewel designs for autumn

I’m very lucky to work with such lovely girls who are so willing to let me do their nails for them. P’s nails are the longest of anyone I’ve met and they are so great to paint. I did a bit of a fabergé egg design for her, and she was so pleased that I’ve been informed that I’m able to do her nails whenever I want. How nice is that?

I love the simplicity of this design, because it doesn’t really look very simple but it was really quick and easy to do. You really can’t go wrong with metallics and jewel tones. Perfect for the Autumn weather and the dark colours we find ourselves wearing as the temperature drops.

girly hands

My lovely friend Jess headed off to Finland this morning to abandon me for 5 days…and before she left she asked me to do her nails for the very first time, which I was quite chuffed about.  Jess is a friend who is helping me with something I am struggling at – being more girly. I am very girly in a lot of ways, makeup, hair, shoes…but my overall style is very much black and grey and leather and studs and skulls and what not, so I am attempting to soften it a bit more, and Jess is my go to girl. As you can see by what she requested I design for her, she’s girly. We chose a great selection of Barry M colours and this is the end result.

I really love this design, and I think I might have to do a version of it on myself this week. And the most important thing is that Jess loved them. I do love a happy customer. Especially one who pays me in wine.

complex one week, simple the next

Simple Wednesday nails. I am currently on the hunt for a fancy job so I can’t be as flamboyant as I’d like to be. Not everyone is like the lovely followers of my blog, some don’t take too kindly to multi-coloured, floral, glittery or excessively detailed nails. So due to this mildly disappointing fact I have kept it simple, with a new metallic silver as the base and then some random dotted tri-colour patterns.

Plus everyone likes low-maintenance don’t they? These were so quick to do, which, after last week’s entry, was very welcome.

And what am I holding, you ask? My fur vest. Because, quite simply, I am freezing. You’ve got to love a London summer!

a lovely 15 hours

I have been neglecting you all! London has been taking up all my time, I’m sure you can understand, it is a terribly exciting city. Let’s just say I was due a couple of days chilling at home and recovering after an epic jubilee weekend…not to mention the week leading up to the jubilee weekend! My nails were finally paid the attention they have been craving, but my heart just wasn’t in it, so this design lasted just 15 hours. It’s a little bit 80′s, perhaps I’ll revisit it another time.

sometimes a girl needs to simplify

Life has been pretty hectic with  my impending move to old London town, and the only thing keeping me sane and organised is my weekly planner. I managed to stay up to do my nails again last night, after 4 days with nothing on them (that felt weird, very weird) and when time fails you, simple dot designs are the way to go.
